Jamnesty: Hunger is Never on Strike - Artist Spotlights!

It feels like Jamnesty 2022 just happened, but we're back again with Jamnesty: Hunger is Never on Strike!! As mentioned in the campaign roadmap article, this term we are focused on the 'Right to Food' campaign, in the wider fight against food poverty.

Therefore, we are raising money for Rainbow Junktion, which is a local food bank, pay as you feel café and LGBTQ+ safe space!

We've got 4 amazing artists, performing at Belgrave Music Hall on the 21st of March. Tickets are out!! They're £4 on engage for members and £5 on fixr for non-members. If your society would like to make this an official social, we can give you a discount code. We also have a 'pay as you feel' policy, which is an option to pay less than the £5, either in advance or on the door. Please just message the Instagram (@leedsuniamnesty) to let us know :)

At the event we will also be collecting items to donate to the food bank. The list of items the food bank wants is on our Instagram, and any possible amount would be immensely appreciated.

Here are the artist spotlights!!

Luna Wood

Luna is a singer-songwriter from Birmingham who is now based in Leeds. Her lyrics are inspired by nature and growing up, and pair perfectly with her upbeat guitar lines and vocal harmonies. A groovy bass and tight drums add to her fresh pop/folk sound.

Alvie

Alvie Bee is an artist from Spain now studying music at Leeds University. Their original pop-bedroom songs are inspired by artists like Peach Pit, Clairo, and Christian Leave!

Little Planets

This band of six close friends combine their infectious pop grooves with socially aware lyrics, that cover issues from social media to sexism. Their music is perfect for live settings with its dance-inducing quality, and they know how to ignite an audience quickly. BBC Introducing has recognized their music and they have played at different festivals, so this will definitely be an unforgettable performance!

Flat Moon

Flat Moon is back to perform at Jamnesty! This band is an alternative, funk band based in Leeds. Their music is multi-dimensional, and a combination of classic funk, psych rock, punk, and jazz. The band also likes to explore all genres, so there is something for everyone!
